Saving Lives at Birth

Grand Challenges Canada, through the Stars in Global Health program, alongside the Ghana Health Service, USAID Center for Innovation and Impact (CII) and USAID/Ghana, and AMP Health, is excited to announce the launch of the Country Innovation Platform Ghana Pilot and an accompanying Request for Proposals!

We are seeking bold ideas that will support Ghana’s goal of reducing obstetric case fatality rates, stillbirths and maternal, perinatal and neonatal mortality. These innovative solutions are expected to improve patient referrals, increase accessibility and availability of patient transport, improve delivery of quality emergency maternal and newborn health services, and/or increase availability of essential maternal and newborn medicines and supplies. Proposed solutions will be expected to address key challenges within the Networks of Practice in six regions in Ghana – Western, Upper East, Upper West, Northeast, Northern, and Savannah.

Successful proposals will be awarded seed grants of CAD $200,000 to CAD $250,000 for a period of 12 to 18 months to develop and test the proposed innovation. Organizations incorporated in North, West, East, Central and Southern Africa are eligible to apply, as well as Canadian institutions.
