Community-Centered Data Collection for Access to Information to 10,000 IDPs in South Sudan

Access to information is extremely limited in South Sudan, due to lack of energy infrastructure and of access to face-to-face information for population that have been displaced due to conflict to hard-to-reach areas. About 13,565 South Sudanese individuals are displaced by conflict in Mundri West and 13,725 in Mundri East Counties (IOM DTM, Sept 2020), majority of whom are hiding in the bushes and/or are cut off from communications with other areas. This makes them vulnerable to abuse and exploitation, including SGBV and recruitment from armed groups, hinder them from access to services (health, protection, PSS, markets) where available, and prevent the delivery of appropriate assistance. The creation of a community network for information sharing and community-center data collection will allow to overcome the lack of infrastructure (mobile network, power lines) and create a two-way communication to access and share life-saving information.
