Improve Water Quantity and Quality to 11,000 Communities Affected By Drought in Kapoeta East

This project is addressing direct and indirect health issues caused by drought in Kapoeta East County, the direct effect of drought is access to safe and clean water, almost all seasonal stream dried-up in locations and many existing hand pump got broken due to over population, Community travelling for 6 hours in search of water, most hours spent for fetching water. The indirect health issues of drought is on hygiene and infectious diseases, insufficient quantity and quality of water made community enable to practice personal hygiene, hand washing at critical time and domestic hygiene, this leads to increased incidents of infectious diseases among the communities such as water borne disease, Typhoid fever, Diarrhea, Dysentery, enteric fever and influenza virus etc., Water related disease e.g. Malaria, Sleeping sickness and kala-azar, water based disease, e.g. Guinea worm and water wash diseases e.g. Epidemic relapsing fever, trachoma and fungal infections and scabies etc.
