Introduction of Aeroponic System to Fight Against Child Stunting Among Indigenous People Project

Our innovation will address the issue of under five child stunting in Rwanda in general but particularly among indigenous people. Under five child stunting in Rwanda is 33%, one of the highest worldwide. Health professionals confirms 100% that the underlying causes is poor nutrition among pregnant and lactating women. Consequently, it is more higher among poor families. Rwanda has 30,000 indigenous people in which 20,000 live in Southern province, Nyanza and Huye districts; indigenous people are the poorest in Rwanda where their usual work is traditional pottery that is no longer on the market or agriculture worsened by climate change and therefore these years, under five child stunting raised to almost 100% among indigenous people because pregnant and lactating women are undernourished due to lack of food. Stunting is associated with an underdeveloped brain, with long-lasting harmful consequences, including diminished mental ability and learning capacity.
